Read the following article. What would you be looking for in a car that runs on a hydrogen-oxygen fuel cell?

  1. My concern would be the redox reaction needed to create a fuel cell with hydrogen that produces water. This would be acidic reaction causing the creation of water hydrogen and oxygen to create a voltaic cell that creates electricity from spontaneity. I'll be looking for it to hold a good charge that does not require lots of refueling. The ability to go a reasonable speed such as the speed limit. The power to maneuver in traffic and at higher speeds in order to avoid collisions.

  3. A car running on a hydrogen-oxygen fuel cell would need to be refueled regularly, which would be an issue since that is costly and refueling stations are not abundant. Because of this, I would be looking for a way to have the fuel cells in the car produce electricity in a more direct, less expensive manner and higher levels of efficiency.

  4. I would look into how the used their resources and ensure that there are components in the car, like Pt, that need to stay in to maintain safety and efficiency. Perhaps companies would skimp on the Pt to cut cost, but there is a certain threshold amount that needs to be maintained.

  5. The cost of the vehicle would be a determining factor as to whether I would buy it, but I would be more concerned with the efficiency. The car would need to be able to remain charged and fueled for as long as or for longer periods of time than normal vehicles for me or probably the general population to buy the car. But because costs are currently too high for the sale of these cars to happen, the companies should find a way to keep the fuel cells charged less expensively while maintaining efficiency.

  6. I think that it's great to use potentially different fuel alternatives! However, I would not be ready to jump in and buy one quite yet. Before doing this I would have to a but more research as to how well tested and what type of conditions that they have tested with. This would be for safety and reliability purposes. I would also want to have a readily available source and location used to recharge, which as to my current knowledge would not be practical to me.

  7. I would definitely look at the pros and cons of buying a hydrogen-oxygen fuel cell powered car. However, as technology progresses, in the future, the pros would likely outweigh the cons thus creating a car that would be more affordable and more efficient. The more positive aspects of a product the more consumers want to purchase the product and if fueling stations are not being co-operative now, maybe a rise in demand will spur the construction of more fueling stations for the H-O powered car. With a more affordable and efficient car it will become more practical in the future to think about purchasing one, but for now, I will pass.
